Counselors for America (CFA) is a nonprofit building comprehensive school-based mental health systems for low-income kids in grades 6 and up by combining sustainable clinician recruitment, Medicaid billing, and administrative support. Our program has the potential to serve over 200K children in aggregate by year 10, placing over 6x more clinicians than currently exist to do so. Our mission is to prove a model for sustainable care that schools can use to offer mental health services on campus to every student who needs them. In doing so, we aim to re-envision the purpose of public school: to recognize and promote the unique, miraculous development of each child into a self-aware, empowered, and happy dreamer-doer in their community.
