ECOfloresta’s mission is to create organic environmental educational events, while supporting the growth of seed banks, propagation, planting and maintenance of tropical staple food trees.
- to build tree nurseries in project areas
- to give native species trees to local projects
- to support organic tree maintenance for two years
- to sponsor trainings in Multistrata Agroforestry and the Miyawaki Method
In 2016 our project was recognized as one of 100 Projects for the Climate, citizen initiatives that act to mitigate the effects of global warming, by the French Ministry of Environment. We were invited to participate in COP22 to begin the process of scaling our reach.
We then recognized that our project encompassed 4 of the top 30 Global Warming solutions researched by Project Drawdown: regeneration of Tropical Forests, planting Tropical Staple Tree Crops, encouraging Multistrata Agroforestry in rural settings, and Afforestation in urban settings.
In 2017 we’ll offer the first training in the Miyawaki Method of afforestation in the city of São Paulo, in collaboration with Afforestt. Participants will be given the tools they need to become environmental entrepreneurs.
